With Jesus as our Good Shepherd, we began His Joyous ministry in March 1987. Since that time, we have had several changes in members with the most recent revitalization in September 2003 with Lonnie Townsend & Ruth MacIntosh joining us. We have been so blessed to have God using us to spread His Word and we want to continue being His Hands. We are dedicated to sharing God's message of salvation through music and we hope that you will experience God's love as you listen to our new CD.

Thank you for supporting us over the years and now May God bless you as you worship with us in song. Are you ready to reach out to God and recieve all that He has to give you?

Ruth joined the group in September 2003. Ruth was born and raised in Lockeport, Nova Scotia.  She was an active member all her childhood and adolescent years in her home church.  She began her singing career as a very young girl at her home church in Lockeport.  Ruth is a member of the Lockeport United Baptist Church and takes a lead role with worship and Sunday School.  Ruth is employed with the Tri-County Regional School Board and has been the Administrative Assistant for the past 21 years.  Ruth lives in Lockeport with her wonderful husband  Tim and they have one son Andrew who is helping develop this website.

A member of  Shepherds Joy Gospel Quartet since March 2003, Lonnie has been singing gospel music nearly all his life. He says his first solo efforts were as a child in the Lockeport Pentecostal Church, a church in which he continues to be an active member. Lonnie, from those childhood soloist beginnings continues to be a frequent performer in area churches, school events, public fund raisers, and variety shows.
For nearly 25 years, Lonnie worked as a News Reporter, starting in the printed media as a freelance sports reporter and photographer and in less than two years, was promoted to Editor of the local newspaper. From the printed media, Lonnie accepted to challenge and moved to radio, and for more than 20 years was known as "the voice of the South Shore." He is one of only a handful of Canadian Reporters to have personal interviews with both Prince Charles and Lady Diana. His radio news features have involved conversations with a number of sports celebrities, community leaders, and numerous politicians, including Provincial Premiers and a couple of Canadian Prime Ministers.
When not on the road with Shepherds Joy, Lonnie participates as a worship team leader, both singing and playing guitar in his home church in Lockeport.

Cathy is the founding member of Shepherd’s Joy and has been singing with the group since it’s beginning in March 1987. Cathy is from Indian Mountain, NB (just outside of Moncton) and enjoyed her early roots in the Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene. She has been living on Cape Sable Island, NS since 1980, and has worked in health care in NB and NS all her life. Cathy and her husband Kent have three grown sons: Joshua, Matthew and Andrew, all of whom are forever their pride and joy

Sandy sings Bass and has been with the group since June, 1992.   Sandy is married to Jane who is the sound person for the group.  On June 3, 2007 they will celebrate their fortieth (40th) wedding anniversary.  Sandy is retired after 32 years in the hardware and building supply business.  He is now very active in the Gideon ministry, short term mission trips and is studying towards a Bachelor of Ministry.
